After gaining approval for additional and enhanced facilities at Burgh House Residential Home, we prepared a detailed drawing package for the Client to self-build 6 new warden controlled self-sufficient homes for the elderly. Works are now progressing well on site whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines.
The initial scheme intended to meet the existing care homes regular enquiries regarding respite care. The accommodation would be an asset to the neighbourhood, with the aspiration to offer further opportunities to provide the elderly with a secure environment to socialise and participate with others at the care home. Whilst the new build is a physical independent structure, it would still remain and function as one combined facility.
Its layout allows any residents who suffer disabilities or are wheelchair occupants, full accessibility throughout. The external design and appearance intended to reflect various styles and materials already found in the surrounding area, whilst complimenting the countryside setting too. In addition, it looked to correspond with the two existing properties already on-site and positioned to link the existing and proposed homes together. This actively created a courtyard aspect which is to become a focal point for offering a safe place to meet, congregate, and provide residents with a community zone for holding events.
Further approval has since been gained for adding an additional unit to the existing proposal bringing the total to 7. We look forward to seeing its construction progress whilst continuing to assist with other facility improvements
